↑ Back to the topWhy did the film series stop?
The sequel earned less than the first film: about $202 million worldwide against about $226 million, on budgets of roughly $90 million and $95 million. The studio did not go on to make the third book, The Titan's Curse. Readers had also criticised the films for departing from the books. For example, Percy is 12 in The Lightning Thief but 16 in the movie.
↑ Back to the topIs there a Percy Jackson TV series?
Yes. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a Disney+ original series that adapts one book per season, with Rick Riordan as an executive producer. Walker Scobell plays Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries plays Annabeth and Aryan Simhadri plays Grover. Season 1 arrived in December 2023, season 2 on December 10, 2025, and season 3 is set for November 20, 2026.
↑ Back to the topWhich should you watch?
The two films stand alone, and the TV series does not continue them. It restarts the story with a new cast. If you want a version closer to the books, the series is the one that follows them chapter by chapter.
