Why are there eight films for seven books?
The first six books each became one film. The seventh and last, Deathly Hallows, was split into two parts: Part 1 in November 2010 and Part 2 in July 2011. Part 2 earned over $1 billion worldwide, and the Harry Potter films together have grossed about $7.7 billion.
↑ Back to the topIn what order should you watch them?
Release order. The films run in a single continuous story, from Harry's first year at Hogwarts to the final battle, so watching them in the order shown in the table is the right way to see them for the first time.
↑ Back to the topWhat are the other films?
A spin-off prequel series, Fantastic Beasts, added three films after the main saga: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), and two sequels. With them, the Wizarding World has eleven films. They are set decades before Harry's time and are not needed to follow the main story.
