Marie Kondo's KonMari method: tidy once, by category, and keep only what brings joy
by Marie Kondo
Sunmark Publishing in Japan published Marie Kondo's book on 27 December 2010. It presents the KonMari Method of professional organizing and calls for a single, thorough tidying event rather than gradual tidying. It says to keep only items that bring a feeling of joy and to thank the rest before discarding them. Tidying goes by category rather than location, in the order clothes, books, papers, miscellaneous items and sentimental items. Discarding comes first, and then each kept item gets a permanent storage place.
