Dale Carnegie turns his business education courses into principles for handling people
Dale Carnegie taught business education courses in New York starting in 1912. In 1934 Simon & Schuster publisher Leon Shimkin took one of them and persuaded him to write a book based on the course material. The 1936 edition had six major sections built around core principles, such as avoiding criticism, giving sincere appreciation and becoming genuinely interested in other people. The 1981 revision, in four parts, removed the sections on business letters and on marital satisfaction.

Wikipedia reports over 30 million copies sold worldwide. A 2013 Library of Congress survey ranked it the seventh most influential book in American history.
Practical and encouraging.
