A century after the second revolution, Mars adopts a new constitution while Earth floods and the solar system opens up
Blue Mars was published in 1996 as the third book of the Mars trilogy, after Red Mars and Green Mars. It follows directly after Green Mars and covers a century after the second revolution. Earth is flooded by melting Antarctic ice, and Mars builds asteroid cities and colonizes the solar system. A new constitution is adopted, and the longevity treatments begin to fail after about two centuries.
